Google recently announced on Twitter that there is a September 2019 core update that is going to be completely rolled out within this last week. This update will impact how Google ranks web sites and how the search engine chooses which page is relevant as per a search query.
Here is what they shared on Twitter:
Later today, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the September 2019 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before. Please see this blog for more about that: https://t.co/e5ZQUAlt0G— Google SearchLiaison (@searchliaison) September 24, 2019
What do you need to do?
If you get hit by this update negatively, you need to figure out what went wrong with your website. Follow Google’s advice to stable your website rankings.
The good thing is that this is the second time Google has pre-announced that a core update is happening after the June 2019 update. So marketers will get time to adjust to the changing trend.
It seems that the rollout started on 24th September and it would take full effect by the end of this week.
Why you need to look into this update closely
Whenever there is an update in Google’s search ranking algorithms, it means your site can either move up the ladder or fall down. Understanding the fundamental changes Google made in the update helps you track what changed and how it may affect your website. We anticipate that this core ranking update is going to cause some serious shuffling if you haven’t been keeping up with Google guidelines.
While the update is being rolled out, we are looking closely on all our marketing projects. We will keep you posted once we start noticing any major shuffling in rankings. In the meanwhile, if you guys notice any changes, have questions or comments, feel free to get in touch with us!
