Finally, Apple released iOS 12 on 17 Sept’18 10:30 pm IST as a free upgrade and the chances are that you can download it for your current iPhone device. iOS 12 will make your iPhone faster, more secure and less buggy. Is My Apple Device Compatible With iOS 12?
Apple iOS 12 is available for free and is compatible with iPhones from 5S and above. This means that all Apple devices that are compatible with iOS 11 will be able to run iOS 12. The new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR will be available with iOS 12, when they go on sale from September 21. The sale of iPhone XS series will start from September 28, however, pre-bookings will start from September 21.
How To Update Your Device To iOS12?
Take backup of your device
Before you upgrade your device to iOS 12, make sure to back up your iPhone data by using iCloud or iTunes. According to the reports, iOS 12 is 2.77 GB in size, you might need to back up your photos on iCloud or delete some apps to ensure you have enough free space on your device.
After taking backup of your Apple device, you can update your device to iOS 12 in two ways:
- Over the air update
- Update via iTunes
Method 1: Over-the-air update
You can upgrade to iOS 12 by connecting your device with Wi-Fi network. In this case, you don’t need to connect your device to computer or iTunes. After connecting your Apple device with Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
Your iOS device will automatically check for an update, prompt you to download and install iOS 12. Just make sure to that your device’s charging is full.
Method 2: Update via iTunes
Updating your device via iTunes might be a faster way than over the air. For this method, you need the latest version of iTunes. You can get the latest version of iTunes from the Mac App Store.
Connect your iOS device with an updated version of iTunes. Next, click on the iPad or iPhone icon in the top-left corner of iTunes, next to the drop-down menu.
Click on Check for Update and then Download and Update. Accept the terms and conditions, and let iTunes do its job.
